Dr. Robert Harrison
If you want to get to know Dr. Bob Harrison, you need to know only one thing: You can take the boy out of Iowa, but you can’t take Iowa out of the boy. Growing up in a small town in beautiful northwest Iowa surrounded by acres and acres of wide-open farmland, he spent a number of happy summers working at his uncle’s farm and enjoying the animals there and on nearby farms. That part of his life went on hiatus when he entered the military after high school and spent eight years in the U.S. Air Force Pararescue service, which included medical training. That experience and the love for animals he developed working with farm animals led him to decide to become a large-animal veterinarian, and he returned to his home state to earn his degree from Iowa State Univeristy. Dr. Harrison began his veterinary career by joining a busy mixed practice (both large and small animals) in southern Wisconsin. With family on the East Coast, however, he decided to move this way and purchase Belair Veterinary Hospital in 1988. His particular areas of interest and expertise are in soft tissue surgery, orthopedics, and dentistry.
Dr. Harrison and his wife live in Davidsonville. His four children have flown the nest and are now pursuing careers of their own. His home has an attached cabinet shop where he spends his free time building furniture and putting his wide-ranging DIY skills to work. He also enjoys golf, cooking, biking, and traveling.
Dr. Harrison and his team are committed to offering skilled care to their animal clients and an empathetic ear to their families. The best animal care depends on compassion and teamwork. We are certain that you will be pleased with the care that you and your beloved pet will receive at Belair Vet.
